Every year on the 12^th of August, we celebrate International Youth Day. This is a day to amplify the voices of young people so that they feel seen, heard and validated. Their creativity, their resilience and their power to shape the future. This years theme, ‘Different Contexts, Common Aspirations’, where empowering youth for a better future seems like it speaks volumes to our goal here at 2BU.

When we talk about the future, often LGBTQ+ young people feel left out of this conversation or big decisions that impact them personally are made for them without them having a say or even being in the room. That’s why having safe queer spaces to talk about the impact that they would like to see is crucial to them and can promote a sense of security and community. Their courage to voice what matters to them is extraordinary in a world that makes being themselves not always the easiest. #ItsOK2BU
