Reaching out for support can feel like a big step. You might not know what to expect, what to say, or even whether 2BU is the right place for you.

The good news is that you don't need to have everything figured out before you get in touch.

At 2BU, we're here to support LGBTQ+ young people aged 11–25 across Somerset. Whatever you're going through, you can start by simply getting in touch and having a conversation with us.

You don't need to know exactly what you need

You might be questioning your identity, feeling isolated, struggling at school or college, finding things difficult at home, or simply wanting to meet other LGBTQ+ young people.

You might know exactly what support you want. Or you might have no idea at all.

That's OK.

When you contact us, we'll listen and talk things through with you. Together, we can work out what might help and what you'd feel most comfortable with.

You can access support in different ways

You might want to come along to one of our youth groups, where you can meet other LGBTQ+ young people and spend time somewhere you can be yourself.

If a group doesn't feel right for you, that's OK too.

You can access 1:1 support with one of our youth workers, or we can meet you through our outreach service. This means we can meet you in places that feel more comfortable and accessible, such as your school, college, youth setting or another community space.

What if you're nervous?

It's completely normal to feel nervous about reaching out.

You don't need to arrive knowing what to talk about. You don't need to have a label. You don't need to be certain about your identity. And you don't need to tell us everything straight away.

You can take things at your own pace.

We're here to listen, understand and support you without judgement.

So, what happens next?

There isn't one set pathway that you have to follow.

You might start by coming along to a group. You might have a 1:1 conversation with a youth worker. You might meet us through our outreach team. Or you might simply get in touch and have a chat about what's going on for you.

Whatever your starting point, we'll work with you to find the support that feels right.

You don't have to work everything out on your own.
