2BU isn't just any youth support group, its a group where everyone plays a part and helps support each other and where it's okay 2BU!
Pronouns: He / Him
My role:
In 2003 I set up 2BU and helped run and develop the youth support group, initially it was just to support two gay lads. Over the years 2BU has grown and developed to the changing needs of LGBTQ+ young people and I've delighted being there week in week out. Over the last year or so I have taken a more behind the scenes role however, I make surprise appearances which is always a delight!
I am most proud of:
Despite agonising over not wanting to be gay and seeking therapies in the USA and UK to be cured, there came a point where I finally believed 'It's okay to be you' and I accepted I am who God wants me to be, and part of that is being gay. I never dreamt that my journey would involve setting up 2BU. As the years have rolled on It has been a joy and a privilege to see hundreds of LGBTQ+ young people move from dispair to believing in themselves and blossoming, ready to take their place in the world with confidence. I'm very proud that I've had the honour of being part of it.
My perfect holiday would be:
Somewhere that is warm but not to humid and offers a bit of luxury and yet culture, love a good market and being a Scot, got to love getting what I think is a bargain.
My ultimate three course meal would be:
Smoked salmon and prawn cocktail, followed by succulentt roast beef dinner however, presented beautifully not just piled on a plate. Followed by homemade strawberry pavlova with a pot of earl grey tea
