Our Story2BU Somerset is a specialist charity supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ+) young people aged 11–25 across Somerset.
We provide safe and welcoming spaces where young people can explore their identities, connect with others and develop confidence in who they are. Through youth groups, one-to-one or outreach support, we help young people feel less isolated and better able to navigate the challenges they may face.
Our work focuses on helping young people build resilience and move towards a place of healthy self-acceptance.
We want a world where LGBTQ+ young people feel accepted, safe and empowered to be their true selves, with the confidence and support they need to thrive.
We create inclusive spaces and opportunities where LGBTQ+ young people feel valued, supported and heard.
We do this by:
Providing safe youth groups and activities
Offering specialist one-to-one or outreach support
Championing youth-led approaches
Supporting professionals and communities to improve understanding and inclusion
Since 2003, 2BU has supported LGBTQ+ young people across Somerset, helping them find belonging and confidence. Over the past two decades, we have developed a strong reputation for creating safe spaces and ensuring young people’s voices shape the support they receive.
We provide a safe environment for LGBTQ+ young people to come together and gain support from trusted adults and peers. We offer regular support groups which provide a varied holistic and tailored programme to meet the needs of the LGBTQ+ young people.
Our activities take place throughout the county of Somerset, offering outreach support when young people are unable to access the central support group.
