Mel's Story

When I first heard about 2BU, I wasn’t sure it was for me. I wasn’t out to many people, and I didn’t really know what being part of an LGBTQ+ group would feel like. I was nervous about being judged, about saying the wrong thing, about being seen.

But from the first time I walked through the door, I was welcomed. Not just politely, but genuinely. People listened, remembered my name, asked how I was. No one asked me to have everything figured out. It was enough just to be there.

Over time, 2BU became a space where I could laugh without looking over my shoulder. Where I could ask questions about myself and hear, “You’re not alone.” I started to believe it.

2BU didn’t change who I was but it gave me the safety to become more of who I already am.
